Ocean Exploration
This month's collection continues to explore the quiet movement and resilience found beneath Florida's waters. Octopus, whales, jellyfish, manatees, horseshoe crabs and coastal scenes are interpreted through expressive brushwork and layered color, balancing energy with calm. Together they celebrate curiosity, connection, and the beauty of Florida's marine world.
Untethered celebrates the playful spirit of humpback whales and the freedom found in simply being present. Known for rolling, chasing, and interacting with one another long after they're young, humpbacks are among the most playful animals in the ocean. Through expressive brushwork, layered texture, and rich ocean blues, this painting captures a carefree moment that reminds us of the joy that comes from connection, curiosity, and living untethered.

Against a deep field of ocean blue, violet and lavender jellyfish seem to appear from the darkness in Otherworldly: Purple. Their translucent forms overlap and drift through expressive layers of paint, creating flashes of color that feel almost illuminated.
Inspired by the way marine life can take on an unexpected glow beneath the surface, the painting captures one of the things I find most fascinating about the ocean: how quickly the familiar can become strange, beautiful and completely otherworldly.

As a child growing up in the Florida Keys, I remember finding horseshoe crabs while playing in the shallows around Marathon. They fascinated me then, and they still do today. Knowing that these remarkable creatures have existed for more than 450 million years, surviving enormous changes to the planet around them, makes them even more extraordinary.
Endure is both a reflection of those childhood memories and a tribute to one of nature’s great survivors. Set against the shifting movement of sea and shore, the horseshoe crab becomes a symbol of perseverance, adaptability and the strength to keep going, no matter how much the world around you changes.

There are moments beneath the surface when the ocean feels like another world entirely. Otherworldly: Blue captures that feeling through a gathering of translucent jellyfish emerging from layers of deep blue.
