Against a deep field of ocean blue, violet and lavender jellyfish seem to appear from the darkness in Otherworldly: Purple. Their translucent forms overlap and drift through expressive layers of paint, creating flashes of color that feel almost illuminated. Inspired by the way marine life can take on an unexpected glow beneath the surface, the painting captures one of the things I find most fascinating about the ocean: how quickly the familiar can become strange, beautiful and completely otherworldly.
